Chapter Twelve
Watching her walk back to her room after the little moment between them made David want to punch himself.
He couldnât believe that he was suffering from the actions he took when he was younger. Back then, even though he didnât want to hurt her, he felt he had to and now it had come back to bite him where it hurts. If only he could turn back the hands of time.

The first time they slept together was not the only time. At first, she was shy and reserved but it didnât last long. She started getting comfortable with him. It was obvious in the way she was excited and willing to try new things with him.
He enjoyed every moment he spent with her. How she made him laugh and her cute giggle whenever he did something funny. As much as he enjoyed it, there was a problem.
He had started falling for her.
He didnât expect to warm up to her the way he did. It just happened and even though there was nothing wrong with her or with asking her out, he couldnât. He had two things stopping him from being in a relationship with herâan internal battle within him and her reticent.
He noticed she was becoming cuddly with him, and he needed to put an end to what was going on between them, but he didnât dare to confront her. So, he did the one thing he thought would be easier to do.
He avoided her.
They were not in the same department in school and although it should have made it easy to avoid her, it wasnât. The times they had spent together were usually after classes. Sometimes she would wait outside for him after certain lectures so they could hang out and he did the same. They literally had each otherâs schedules crammed.
He stopped waiting for her after lectures, but it seemed to be futile. She probably thought he was busy with schoolwork because she would still come around.
The first time she waited for him outside the lecture hall after he had made the decision to cut ties with her finally. He delayed a bit by pretending to be waiting for a friend knowing she wasnât comfortable with entering the hall because of the students in it.
When he finally came out, he walked past her. She kept calling his name, but he didnât answer her.
She didnât give up.
She kept on coming around, calling his phone. He didnât like the fact he was making her go through that, but it was for the best. At least it was what he told himself.
One day, she had come over to his apartment and knocked. He was in the living room and had seen her through the window when the Taxi she came in had pulled her up. He closed his eyes, every time she knocked. It wasnât comfortable for him.
After she had spent up to 30 minutes knocking, she stopped. Everywhere was quiet for a while before his message notification tone rang and it was a message from her.
